SOUTH BELOIT--A 20-month-old child -- falling in a deep pool.

It's a thought that would make many parents panic. For Tim and Angie Mazurkiewicz, the panic was real this weekend when their toddler Mason disappeared for a moment from a backyard barbeque.

"I took a few steps and walked around to the otherside of the deck, and i could see the floaty was shaking in the water, but nothing was in there," says Tim. "Then I looked and he was there on his back in the pool and I was like 'Oh my God, he's in the pool. He's in the pool.'"

But Mason was floating -- not drowning.

"He just had a smile on his face and was saying 'I swim mommy, I swim,'" says Tim. "She hugged him and brought him close and said 'You were a big boy, thank God you were swimming.'"

Mason is one of several toddlers who have learned to float at classes at Catch The Wave Swim Club.

"We always knew our program worked because we have a lot of kids that can do this," says Brandon Staffregan, Mason's instructor. "But to see it work when it needed to the most, that's very nice to know."

Staffregan and his mom have been giving lessons most of his life and he concedes it the training scares parents at first.

"When they first drop this kid in the pool, I was like 'Help this kid, somebody do something,'" said Tim. "They're like "No, no, no, it's part of the training.' I've never seen that done before, scared the crap out of me."

"They do learn, even when they are crying," says Brandon. "They can learn, especially when the time is right. He found a way to do it, when he needed to the most."

The day after Mason's ordeal, his dad called Brandon -- that voice mail is now on YouTube and becoming a viral sensation.

How do you thank someone for saving your childs life?" said Tim. "I just wanted to call and let him and his staff know thank you."

"Mason's story could affect a lot of people all over the world," said Brandon. "Not just locally, but everywhere."
