Incident happened near intersection of 5th Ave. and 5th St. Wednesday

ROCKFORD - UPDATE - Police now say that a Rockford Public Schools bus was hit by a bullet during the Wednesday evening shooting.

A RPS spokesperson says the bus was struck at least once. At the time, the bus driver was not aware the bus was hit. No students were injured, and all made it home safely. It wasn't until an investigation Thursday morning that the bullet was found on the underside of the bus.

The Rockford School District is now working with Rockford Police as they investigate the incident.
