WTVO/WQRF -- Investigators in DeKalb and Lee County are investigating single-motorcycle crashes in which the rider was killed.

The first happened at around 6am at Bethany Road and Resource Parkway in DeKalb.  Officers arrived to find 28-year-old Lavell Jones laying in the roadway.  Police say he simply lost control of the bike and crashed.

Jones was transported to Kishwaukee Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.  He was wearing a helmet, and alcohol did not appear to play a role in the crash.

The second happened at around 2:15pm on Palmyra Road near Sauk Road in Lee County.

The Sheriff's Office says the rider apparently drove off a curve and into a gravel area and then hit a guard rail.  He was pronounced dead at the scene and his name has not been released.

That rider was not wearing a helmet, and speed did not appear to be a factor.  It is unknown if alcohol played a role at this time.
