LOVES PARK - Loves Park Police are investigating whether two gun shops broken into and robbed Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning are connected.
The first happened around 11:30 p.m. at Gilmore's Guns located on Torque Drive, just south of IL Rt. 173. Then, almost five hours later, KAP Guns on Edwards Drive was also robbed.
Loves Park PD says the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, is assisting to determine whether the robberies are connected.
No injuries were reported.
This is the third time this year, and second time in less than two weeks, that KAP Guns has been robbed. Owner Kenny Polhamus told Eyewitness News following the second robbery that he was considering liquidating their gun supply so they didn't have any weapons on site, presumably to deter motive to rob the shop.
Anyone with information on any of the robberies is asked to call Loves Park Police.
