ROCKFORD - Two Rockford men face charges after allegedly attempting to burglarize a church.
46-year-old Steven Cooper and 42-year-old Shawn Cooper were arrested early Thursday morning near the Souls Harbor Church on 11th St.
Police were responding to a call that the two men were acting suspicious around the front of the church. When they arrived, officers say both men attempted to run away, but were taken into custody.
Both men face Attempted Burglary charges, and Steven Cooper also is charged with Possession of Burglary Tools.
As of Thursday afternoon, both men were being held in the Winnebago County Jail with no bond until their arraignment.
