UPDATE: Rockford University Students Identified

Circumstances indicate both killed by Carbon Monoxide poisoning

ROCKFORD - (UPDATE) - Investigators identified the victims as 24 year-old Amjad Balkhair and 21 year-old Mohammed Mufti.

Two men were found dead in a garage at 1035 McKnight Circle early Sunday morning.

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office was called to the scene after Rockford firefighters found the two men just after midnight, ages 21 and 24, dead in the garage along with their car.  It is unclear if the car was running at the time of the discovery, but fire investigators say elevated levels of carbon monoxide were found in the garage.

Both men are foreigners in the United States on student visas according to the Coroner's Office.  Their names have not yet been released.

The death is under investigation by the Rockford Police Department.  An Autopsy is pending by the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.
