Unoccupied House Suffers $20,000 in Damages in Friday Morning Fire

First arriving engine reported heavy smoke coming from the house.

ROCKFORD - A house suffers substantial smoke damage after catching fire Friday morning.

Firefighters arrived to the unoccupied house in the 300 block of Willard Avenue around 10 a.m. to heavy smoke. A total of three engines and 23 firefighters responded to the fire. It caused an estimated $20,000 in damages.

There were no injuries. The cause is unknown and remains under investigation.
