UPDATE: Bassett Convicted On Armed Robbery Charge

UPDATE (1/14/15) -- A jury convicted Bassett of armed robbery with a firearm Tuesday.  He faces a maximum of 45 years in prison.  Bassett's sentencing is set for Feb 19th.

ROCKFORD -- Police arrest 21-year-old Lamarcus Bassett.

On Sunday around 6:30pm, members of the Rockford Police Department responded to the 700 block of Cunningham.  Lamarcus L. Bassett (a.k.a. Kool Aid), who was wanted on several arrest warrants, was reportedly in a residence at that location.

Officers located Bassett and arrested him without incident. 

Bassett was arrested regarding the following warrants:

        -Aggravated Battery with a Firearm

        -Armed Robbery

        -Domestic Battery

        -Parole Violation

(6/20/14): Police say Bassett committed two crimes this week. The first took place on Tuesday.  Police say he robbed a victim at gunpoint at 4104 Auburn Street.  The second incident was Thursday's drive-by shooting on Royal. Bassett was identified in both cases.  He now faces additional charges, including:

  • Two counts of armed robbery
  • Aggravated robbery
  • Agg. discharge of a firearm
  • Conspiracy to commit aggravated battery
  • Conspiracy to commit aggravated discharge
