UPDATE: Body Found In Kishwaukee River Now A Murder Investigation

UPDATE (4/22/14): Investigators confirm they are now investigating Gritzmaker's death as a homicide.  Deputy Chief Dominic Iasparro says there is trauma to her body.  Iasparro couldn't describe the trauma.  But, says she wasn't shot or stabbed.  So far, police have no one in custody.

UPDATE (4/21/14): The Winnebago County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 46 year-old Beverly Janet Gritzmaker of Rockford.  She was pronounced dead at 6pm Sunday.  An autopsy on Monday couldn't determine how she died.

ROCKFORD- Police report the body was located in the Kishwaukee River near the Gorge Forest Preserve at 4643 Blackhawk Road. Officers responded at 3:46 PM. A man observed the body in the water. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies report the body appears to be a white female. At this point she is unidentified.

An autopsy is scheduled by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office. The case is being treated as a death investigation.
