UPDATE (4/21/14): Martell Buckley was sentenced Monday to 37 years in prison.

UPDATE (4/1/14): Rico Jefferson reached a plea deal with prosecutors.  He received six years in prison for aggravated discharge.  If he was convicted for murder he would've received a minimum 20 years in prison.  Rico's brother Russell has already been cleared in the case.  The third suspect involved in the murder, Martell Buckley, was already found guilty.

ROCKFORD - It's been more than five months since the shooting outside  the BP Gas Station on Auburn   Street left one man  dead.

On Thursday  police say they have two men in custody wanted for the murder of 18-year-old  Dwayne Buchanan Jr., and are hoping the public will assist in finding the  third.

Police say  shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon they received a tip through  CrimeStoppers that Rico and Russell Jefferson, two fugitives wanted in the  shooting death of Buchanan Jr. were inside an apartment in the 900 block of West  Streeton Rockford's  southwest side.

Rockford  Police Lieutenant Marc Welsh says officers surrounded the apartment and were  able to contact Rico Jefferson by phone, who was persuaded to surrender to  police without incident. His  brother Russell Jefferson was not found at the  apartment.

22-year-old  Rico Jefferson has been charged with 6 counts of first degree  murder.

Police say on  May 22nd of this year, Rico and 24-year-old Russell Jefferson, two brothers,  along with 25-year-old Martell Buckley shot and killed 18-year-old Dwayne  Buchanan Jr. near the entrance to the BP Gas Station on Auburn  Street.

Martell  Buckley was arrested earlier this year on an unrelated weapons charge.  He was in jail when he was served a  copy of the first degree murder charges related to the BP  shooting.

Police say  they do believe that 24-year-old Russell Jefferson is somewhere in the Rockfordarea.  He is a known gang member and should be  considered armed and dangerous.

Police say  that a tip from CrimeStoppers helped them arrest Rico Jefferson on  Thursday.  That's why they urge  anyone who might know 24-year-old Russell Jefferson's whereabouts to call  CrimeStoppers at 815-963-7867.
