UPDATE (7/15/14): A judge ruled that beyond a reasonable doubt that Betts died of malnutrition and that Lund acted recklessly. However, she was not convicted of murder. Lund is guilty of involuntary manslaughter. A sentencing hearing is set for Sept. 4.
South Beloit - A woman is behind bars tonight charged with the first degree murder of her son.
Kayla Lund, 23, is accused for the death of 6 week old Jackson Betts. An autopsy determined he died from a lack of adequate food and medical care.
Jackson died last September at a home on Wheeler Avenue.
