Democratic Chairman, Charles Laskonis, says the local party endorses the following:
1) Cheri Bustos - 17th Dist. U.S. Rep. Candidate
2) Dan Lewandowski - 34th Dist. State Senate Candidate
3) Chuck Jefferson - 67th Dist. Rep.
4) Carl Wasco - 68th Dist. State Rep.
The endorsements come even after other primary candidates spoke out against the party picking favorites before the public had their chance to vote. In a statement, 34th Dist. Senate candidate, Steve Stadelman, who's running against Lewandowski, says "Most voters won't take seriously the endorsement of Dan Lewandowski... because they understand the underlying conflict of interest." Stadelman is referring to Lewandowski's seven years as the party's chairman. He continues to say "many Democrats are not happy with this decision. The endorsement lacks integrity."
Laskonis says the party just wants its best chance at success in November. "We're not taking away from the other candidates" Laskonis told WTVO. "These are just the best candidates that we have."
If you plan to vote in the March 20th Primary election, you must register by the end of the day tomorrow.
