Winnebago County Man Convicted of Sex Abuse at Daycare

Prosecutors say lewd acts happened between 2000 and 2005

ROCKFORD - A Winnebago County man accused of sexually molesting children at his wife's daycare has been found guilty of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and three counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse by a jury.

Police say the abuse by 53-year-old David D. Seaton occurred between February, 2000 and February 2005 to two victims under the age of 13.

The Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office says that Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child carries a sentence of 6-30 years in prison while each count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse is punishable by 3-7 years behind bars.  Seaton would also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life upon release.

He is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:30pm on October 31st.

Seaton at the time of his arrest worked at WTVO/WQRF-TV in a non-news capacity, and was terminated from employment immediately after his arrest.
