WINNEBAGO COUNTY - A Winnebago Co. Sheriff's deputy is honored for saving a woman's life.
Deputy Daniel Ferruzza received a Lifesaving Pin during a ceremony Thursday afternoon. On Sunday, he responded to a call and found a woman unconscious and not breathing. His training immediately kicked in.
Ferruzza administered CDR and used an AED to restart the woman's heart. She came to and was taken to the hospital where she's doing well.
"It's just my job," said Ferruzza. "I didn't think. I just did what I was trained to do."
Ferruzza says the best part about the ceremony isn't the recognition. But, rather, knowing that he made a positive difference in someone's life.
