TOWN OF NEWARK - Roosters and drugs land a Wisconsin man in jail.

A SWAT team, a Rock Co. Special Investigations Unit, and animal control all took part in a raid of Jorge Marquez's home at 8424 W. Mill Pond Road.  They found 16 pounds of processed marijuana in a concealed crawl space.  Investigators also found 61 caged roosters on the property.  Evidence at the scene suggests the roosters were used for fighting.

Veterinarians from the Badger Veterinary Hospital determined the roosters didn't need immediate medical care.

Marquez, 37, is charged with possession of THC w/intent to deliver, instigating fights between animals, and maintaining a drug trafficking house.  He's scheduled to appear in court at 3pm Thursday.
