MACHESNEY PARK - A Machesney Park man who courageously served during World War Two was laid to rest. Dozens attended Jesse Turner's funeral at North Park Church Thursday morning. Turner died over the weekend.
Jessie Turner served with the United State Navy. One of his last wishes was to have sailors carry his coffin. Turners wish was granted. Patriot Guard members, like Walter Chimiak felt this loss deeply. He says the Stateline lost a great man.
"When you get to know a person and their family and what that person is really like you can see how they lived their life," said Chimiak. "If we can live like that, I tell you, that would be cool."
Chimiak says there comfort knowing that Turner is retunited with his wife, who died a year ago.
