ROCKFORD - It wasn't just another victory for the Boylan Lady Titans and their head coach Paul Perrone Tuesday night.
When the Titans defeated Belvidere North 77-44 it gave Perrone 400 career wins as a girls varsity basketball coach.
He won 206 games as the girls head coach at Harlem. Now he has 194 wins with the Titans.
"It feels like 400. It's been a long time," said Perrone to Eyewitness News immediately following the game. "Probably 22 years coaching at the varsity level, but I spent time with the boys in eighth grade so it's been a little bit over 40 years. You lose half a step really. Working with these young ladies is just a dream and they're such great girls that it kind of keeps me young even though I'm getting up there in age a little bit."
The team celebrated with a cake and balloons that were shaped in the number 400. Perrone received a commemorative game ball from the school. And perhaps best of all Perrone was given a big team hug by his players.
