DeKalb, Illinois-This has been anything but a normal week for the Stillman Valley girls basketball team.  It began with their Super-Sectional win Monday night.

Now the Cardinals are preparing to go to State this weekend.  Wednesday afternoon the girls practiced at NIU's Convocation Center to help them adjust to the atmosphere they'll face at Redbird Arena in Normal this weekend.

The Cardinals have been on a roll since the middle of the season.  They have a record of 26-6.  They're ready to embrace this State shot.

"Oh it's pretty exciting.  We are completely and totally prepared and ready to play," said Stillman Senior Jessica Gerig.  "We're confident in our ability right now.  We've overcome some obstacles and w'ere ready for whatever comes next."

"It's such an honor, and we're so greatful to be able to be here, and play here," said Stillman Senior Guard Samantha Hellyer.  "It's (going to State) what we've been working for since day one, so overall it's a great experience."

Stillman Valley will play 29-5 Breese Central Friday night at 8:15 in the second 2A semifinal game. You can see that game and all of the State Basketball games on Rockford's MyNetwork TV (Cable Channel 16, digital channel 17.2)
