Lutheran Golfers Living Up To Expectations

The Crusaders are eyeing another run at State.

ROCKFORD - High School golf teams are well into their season. The Lutheran girls are already living up to high expectations.

Last year at State the Crusaders took third place as a team. Natalie Hooper was the fourth individual overall.

This year Hooper, a junior, returns along with seniors Caitlyn Schoepfer, Emily Althof, and Megan Larson. Talented sophomore Finley Rock is also back and the Crusaders have added another talented golfer in freshman Brighton Young.

So far this season the Crusaders have won their first six dual matches. They also on the Rock Falls Invitational and they finished second in the Boylan Invitational.

"I'm impressed with what they're doing," says head coach Joe Lodico. "We've just got to keep it up and play well and focus all the way the rest of the season. I think they have high expectations. I think this year we have the possibilities of being one of the best teams in the state."
