Winters & Harlem A Good Fit

ROCKFORD - One of the Stateline's most successful high school basketball coaches might be back on the bench next season at a NIC-10 school.

Monday Night the Harlem Board of Education will vote on whether or not to hire Mike Winters as the Huskies' varsity boys basketball coach.

Winters has been a head coach previously at Oregon, Jefferson, Rock Falls and Boylan high schools. His teams were successful at all four locations. Winters guided Jefferson to state. His last Boylan team two seasons ago just missed going to State after losing in the Super-Sectional and posting a perfect NIC-10 conference season.

Winters resigned at Boylan after that season to focus on pursuing his Master's degree. He did not coach last season.

Harlem has struggled in recent seasons. The Huskies have won a total of 17 games over the last three seasons.
