Rockford- A little hail didn't stop Stateliners from getting out on the golf course Saturday. Golf Rockford teamed up with Riverside Bank for their Annual Kickoff Event at Aldeen Golf Course. This is the first season that the event was held outdoors at Aldeen. Golfers in the community had the opportunity to talk to professionals, test out their equipment and get some basic instruction to start the season. Putting contests and other activities were scheduled for the day but were delayed due to weather.

"The delay was not even the rain, it was the hail that came down. All the greens were actually white covered. The fairways were covered and it looked like it was still December," says Dave Kloepfer, Aldeen's Men's Golf Association.

"I didn't expect hail at this point. But we're used to rain delays and frost delays so we brought everybody inside and waited for the storm to pass. Now it's beautiful, we're getting them back out," says Duncan Geddes, Director of Golf Operations.
