Bears Trade Up To Grab Trubisky

LAKE FOREST - The Bears pulled the first stunner of NFL Draft night by taking North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky.

They traded the third pick overall to the 49ers to move up one spot. They promptly took Trubisky when most people thought they would go defense with Standford defensive end Solomon Thomas or LSU safety Jamal Adams.

Trubisky put up impressive stats for North Carolina last season. He completed 68% of his passes for 3,748 yards. He threw 30 touchdown passes and he was intercepted only six times. His quarterback rating was 158.3.

The knock on Trubisky is he made only 13 starts in his college career.

In the trade with the 49ers the Bears not only game up the third overall pick this year, they also gave up a pair of third round picks and a fourth round pick.
