DEKALB - Hundreds of young football players flocked to Huskie Stadium on Wednesday.
NIU hosted a one day football camp with coaches from two of the biggest conferences in the country. Arkansas' Bret Bielema and Penn State's James Franklin were worked out with some of the local high school talent. Group camps like this are a great way to get the program some real attention.
"I think it speaks to what we've accomplished and who we are, and the mutual respect we have for all the staffs that are here," says NIU head coach Rod Carey. "When you have a bunch of other staffs here that you're going to run drills and you may hear it coached a different way or you may introduce a different drill that they haven't used and you may learn that way and I think that's a huge benefit of having fellow coaches around."
Northern Illinois has more one day camps scheduled for later in the month.
