ROCKFORD-You would never know it by looking at Boylan's snow covered baseball field, but it's spring sports time for our Stateline schools. Monday was the first day that baseball, softball, soccer and tennis teams could practice.

Most of them, including Boylan's baseball team, were forced indoors. Boylan practiced in the school's auxilary gym.  It looks like that'll be the case for quite some time with more snow and cold temperatures in the forecast.

Working indoors makes coach Matt Weber's job a challenging one to get the guys ready for the season.

"You can get a lot of things done indoors. You can take ground balls and play catch. Probably the one position that gets cheated is the outfielders, because none of us has those great fieldhouses with 300 foot high celings where you can hit fly balls," says Weber. "It is a transition from indoors to outdoors. We're all going to be in the same boat."

Fortunately the IHSA has pushed the start of the seasosn back one extra week this year. Boylan's first game is scheduled for March 20th against Woodstock Marian.
