ROCKFORD-Hononegah graduate David Brown is hoping to suit up for the Western Michigan Broncos for one more basketball season. He has decided to petition the NCAA for an extra season of eligibility. Brown missed the better part of two seasons early in his college career due to injuries.

Brown made the following statement on his Instagram account Monday:

"I guess I'll start by saying that I will be coming back to Western Michigan for my sixth and final year. It's been great playing here, and playing with the group (of) guys we have. I feel like there are some things I want to accomplish, and also some things I want to accomplish with my little brothers. It was a hard choice, but I feel like I made the best choice for me as an individual and a basketball player."

Brown could have decided to turn pro. He averaged more than 19 points per game last season to lead the MAC in scoring.
