Dakota Repeats As State Champs

BLOOMINGTON-Dakota's wresting legacy is shining brighter than ever. The Indians won the 1A Team State Championship Saturday for the second straight year. It's the school's third state championship in wrestling overall.

The Indians routed Vandalia 45-9 in the quarterfinals. They did the same to Plano 60-15 in the semifinals. Then they finished off in style by beating Petersburg PORTA in the finals 65-3. The Indians lost only one match to PORTA.

Dakota 132 pound senior Josh Alber won all three of his matches to finish the season 48-0 and end his four year career undefeated and untied. He's the first wrestler in Illinois history to do that.
