WHEATON-Eric Burch of Machesney Park didn't contend for the championship at the Men's State Amateur Golf Tournament, but he does have bragging rights among Stateline golfers. Burch had the highest finish of all local golfers Thursday at Cantigny Golf in Wheaton. He tied for 29th place.

Burch put together rounds of 73-73-77-77 for a total of 302 (14 over par). Oregon's Andrew Canfield was the next best local finisher. He tied for 35th with rounds of 75-75-79-77 for a 306 total.

Byron's Brian Silvers was next tieing for 38th place. He shot 73-76-75-85-309.

Nick Hardy of Northbrook and Raymond Knoll of Naperville tied for the top spot with 280 totals.
