Peoria, IL- March Madness is in full swing and that includes the Rockford Lutheran Crusaders who took the court in Peoria Today. It was their final shoot around before tomorrow’s State Semifinal game against the Lincoln Railsplitters. This is Lincoln’s 13th State appearance but that doesn’t intimidate the Crusaders.

“This team has a lot of experience with being down state a couple years ago. Especially with Thomas and Nate. Even walking in here, you can tell our guys just don't seem to be overwhelmed with it,” says Rockford Lutheran Head Coach Tom Guse.

The Crusaders are making their fifth appearance at the State Tournament. Their best finish was two years ago when they took home third in Class 2A. This is the first year Lutheran is competing in 3A at the state level.

“Definitely a tougher road to get here and now that we're here, obviously you're going to see bigger, faster, stronger teams. Hopefully, we're ready for the challenge,” says Guse.

Players like Thomas Kopelman who have been to state before are ready for that challenge.
