ROCKFORD-Interest in Team USA and the World Cup remains strong in the Stateline. Fans cheered on the team Thursday afternoon during it's game with Germany. The USA lost 1-0, but that didn't dampen the spirits of fans too much, because the USA still advanced to the Knockout Round or Round of 16 by virtue a winning a tiebreaker over Ghana.

This is the first time in World Cup history that the USA has reached the Knockout round in consecutive tournaments.

"It feels awesome," says Michelle Militello. She was watching the game at Boomer's Sports Bar off Riverside in Rockford. "The last couple minutes were really intense. We were hoping for a goal, but hey we're still qualified, so we're moving on."

"The USA probably going to be in the last four. Not champion, but we gonna be in a nice place," says soccer fan Raul Martin who was also at Boomer's.

The USA will play Belgium on Tuesday, July 1st.
