ROCKFORD - This has not been a good week for Boylan graduate Demry Croft.
Croft learned Monday that he is no longer the co-starting quarterback at Minnesota with Conor Rhoda. Rhoda has the top job. Then Tuesday head coach P.J. Fleck dropped this piece of news during his weekly press conference. Croft won't even be with the Gophers this Saturday when they host Middle Tennessee.
"Demry Croft will not be with us. He's dealing with some personal issues that are way, way more important than football, and so it's my job as a head football coach is to get him what he needs and we're going to help him any way we possibly can."
"I'm not going to get into that (Croft's issues) in respect to his privacy and his personal life, but like I said at the beginning if you do not do the right things academically, athletically, socially, spiritually and you do not uphold the high, high expectations of our culture on and off the field you will not play, and it does not matter who you are."
Croft scored on a 64 yard touchdown run late in the Gophers' win over Oregon State last Saturday.
