Belvidere, Illinois-The financial issues facing the Belvidere School District and the uncertainty resulting from them have prompted both head football coaches to resign.

Belvidere head coach Matt Weckler and Belvidere North head coach Rich Turner have both stepped down from their jobs.

Turner had been with North only one season.  The Blue Thunder were only 2-7 last season, but they had a young team and they were making strides as the season went along.

Belvidere was 5-5 and made the playoffs.  Weckler had been the Bucs head coach for the past six years.  Weckler has already accepted a new head coaching job at DeKalb High School. He's excited about the untapped potential there.

But both he and Turner told WTVO that the uncertainty in the Belvidere school district right now was something they didn't want to deal with.

Neither man had any guarantees that he would have a coaching job, or more importantly, a teaching job in the school district in the future.
