Local Bowlers Earn Trip To State

LOVES PARK-Four Stateline boys bowling teams will head to State next weekend. Sycamore, Harlem, Honononegah and Guilford all earned trips by finishing in the top six out of 12 teams Saturday at the Boylan Sectional at Park Lanes in Loves Park.

Sycamore won the tournament wtih a 6578 pinfall. Harlem took ksecond with a 6545 total. Freshman Jacob Mimtz led the Huskies with a 1455 total for six games. Senior Austin Purkeypile was next with a 1324 total.

Hononegah took fourth placel, and Guilford just made the top six cut for State by finishing in sixth.  Belvidere finished in seventh place. Freeport took ninth, and Oregon was tenth.

Qualifying for State as individuals were Freeport's Christopher Wiley, Dixon's Joel Spangler, and Belvidere's Kyle Pattalio.

The State Tournament will be held next weekend in O'Fallon near St. Louis.
