ROCKFORD-Guilford is happy to be back in the IHSA football playoffs for the first time in three years. To top it off the Vikings will host a first round game in 6A. They'll face Cary-Grove Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Cary-Grove went 6-3 during the regular season. The Trojans are playoff tested. They advanced to the 6A State Championship game last year before losing to Crete-Monee.

"They run a similar offense to Hononegah," says Guilford coach Mel Gilfillan. Obviously it's a good football program. But the good news is they've got a lot of young guys this year. They're playing a lot of juniors and sophomores. But once again they're a great football program. We're going to have to play good, mistake-free football to beat them."
