Rockford, Illinois-It was historic night at Guilford Thursday. The first boys volleyball game between Rockford schools was played.

Actually there were four games.  Guilford and Jefferson's JV and Varsity teams all played each other. Jefferson won the varsity showdown 25-10, 25-17.

Girls volleyball has been around for decades at Stateline schools. Their season is played in the fall. But boys volleyball is just now starting up as a club sport at a handful of Stateline schools.

Boys volleyball is sanctioned by the IHSA, but most teams play in the Chicago suburbs. The hope is that more local schools will start up club teams next year and that eventually local teams will be included in the IHSA.
