The boys have made a complete turnaround on the defensive end of the ice over the past couple weeks. They've given up just 1.11 goals per game over their past seven games. In 11 games in the new year that average is 1.88 goals per game.
And the penalty kill unit hasn't allowed a goal in six straight games.
A big part of the Hogs' success has been the play of goaltender Carter Hutton. Over his last seven games he is 6-1 with a .935 save percentage and a 1.80 goals against average.
The IceHogs will play back-to-back road games in Charlotte against the Checkers Thursday night and Friday night.
