"It's a good group and that's one thing we like about it," says head coach Tim Sughroue. "There doesn't seem to be a lot of egos, just kids that want to go out and play, and play as a team."
Alec Martin and Jake Wilson led the conference in rushing last year, and left some gaps to fill on this team.
"We lost two great backs that the area probably won't see in a long time that can run like that," says Tight End Tristyn Berg. "Marco Reyes and Alex Dodd, those guys will step up and make quite a few plays on offense for us."
The Indians are short on experience, but they're deep and fast.
"We've got quite a bit of depth, says running back Alec Dodd. "We've got a lot of running backs that can fill in for each other on any position. We don't look like the biggest team out there, but we're definitely the fastest."
Hononegah does have three returning starting offensive linemen- Jordan Jensen, Shane Ryczek, and TJ Babcock.
"That's one thing we really build our team on is our offensive line, the way we run the football," says Suughroue. "We feel good about those three coming back, they're good solid players."
But he quarterback job is still up for grabs.
"Daytona Chandler is a junior that's been looking good. Louis Barry is a sophomore that's been up with us getting a lot of snaps. Austin Harter is a senior that's also getting some reps there," says Sughroue.
The Indians are depending on a quick offense and team unity to get them to that eighth consecutive playoff season.
Sometimes it's not the most talented team that wins, it's the best team that wins, and we're hoping that's the case this year," says Sughroue.
