Rockford, Ill.-The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Tuesday that they have traded forward Brandon Segal to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for future considerations.
In addition, the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs have acquired winger Matt Fornataro from the Norfolk Admirals.
Segal, 28, has recorded 13 goals, 12 assists and 63 penalty minutes in 53 regular-season tilts with the IceHogs this season and served as the team's captain. He made his National Hockey League debut with Tampa Bay in 2009.
Fornataro, 26, has spent the past three seasons with Norfolk and has totaled five goals, 20 assists in 46 games with the Admirals this season. The Calgary, Alberta native has appeared in 214 career AHL games with Syracuse, Worcester, Houston and Norfolk, totaling 44 goals and 67 assists.
Prior to turning pro, Fornataro skated four seasons at the University of New Hampshire and was a teammate of IceHogs center Peter LeBlanc during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. Fornataro led the Wildcats in scoring during his senior campaign in 2007-08 with 18 goals and 28 assists in 38 games.
