Illini Crushed by Northwestern 11/24/12

Illinois crushed by Northwestern 50-14

The Fighting Illini finished their season winless in Tim Beckman's first season, getting blown out in their last game of the season. Illinois trailed only 17-14 in the second quarter after quarterback Reilly O'Toole rushed for a 12 yard score, but the Wildcats responded by outscoring the Illini 23-0 in the second half.

The Illini started the season 2-1 before losing their last nine games of the season, including all eight of their Big 10 conference games. They were outscored by an average of 27 points in their conference season.

Illinois head coach Tim Beckman signed a five-year, $9 million contract with the school last December, but there have been rumors he might be fired after just one season in Champaign.
