In their first season as a 3A school, Lutheran faced questions about whether or not they could handle the tougher competition. So far, the Crusaders have answered with a resounding "yes."
Fresh off dominating the Freeport Pretzels, Lutheran turned around and did the same to the NIC-10 champion Belvidere Bucs. Lutheran led the entire way, opening up a big lead early and never looking back.
The Crusaders got scoring from eight different players. Thomas Kopelman led the way with 17 points, but Joe Kellen (14 points) and Nate Wieting (14 points) also had strong outings. The Bucs got 12 and 10 from Joe Byers and Josh Hauser respectively. They finished their season with a 23-7 record.
