MARENGO-Marengo High School's days in the Big Northern Conference will soon be over. The Board of Education voted unanimously Monday night to join the new Kishwaukee River Conference. The switch will take place in 2016 although it's possible it could happen as early as 2015.
The Kishwaukee River Conference will also include Woodstock, Woodstock North and Burlington Central. Other schools such as Richmond-Burton, Harvard and Genoa-Kingston have also been giving consideration to joining the Kishwaukee River Conference.
Marengo administrators says the move to the KRC will shorten travel times for their teams, and it will also enable Marengo to take advantage of more geographical rivals.
