But Rochelle football coach and athletic director Kevin Crandall believes the law is largely symbolic since most coaches and athletic directors are already doing all they can to raise their concussion awareness on their own.
"Obviously it's (raising concussion awareness) good," says Crandall. "Everybody wants kids to be safe and everything, but it's a little insulting that they think that we would take our profession so lightly that we wouldn't try to stay, you know, on the cutting edge of those kind of things. At least here we've always taken great pride in trying to provide the safest environment, the best equipment possible. We've always had a certified athletic trainer who's our employee, takes care of our kids."
The law goes into effect immediately.
