Bears Report To Bourbonnais

BOURBONNAIS-Lauren- It's all systems go for the Bears. They started arriving Bourbonnais Wednesday for training camp. The Bears Coaching Staff made it clear that every position is wide open and every single day is a competition.

"Our safety is wide open battle, number of players that have been here and number of players we've brought in," says General Manager Phil Emery. "There's no declared winners, I'd say again don't be surprised between who lines up the first day of practice and the first pre-season game, third pre-season game and first game of the season."

"We've got a thirty day competition going on for a 53 man roster," says head coach Marc Trestman. "As Phil says, the competition happens in a number of different ways. It happens because ones on ones will face each other every single day. Charles Tillman will line up against Brandon Marshall and across the board. Whoever that is, we're going to build an edge to our football team, because we're going to compete against each other every single day."
With every position across the board, if it's not someone battling for a starting spot, it's someone battling for a second string spot," says quarterback Jay Cutler. "So you know, that makes everyone around you better."
In terms of quarterback competition, Coach Trestman says Jordan Palmer has been here the longest, and he'll have the first shot at backing up Jay Cutler.
