Dekalb--The post-Jordan Lynch era began with Matt McIntosh as the Huskies starting quarterback. Tiny Presbyterian was the perfect opponent for him and the Huskies to open up with. McIntosh led the Huskies on five first-half scoring drives. He fired a beautiful 39-yard touchdown to Da’Ron Brown on the Huskies first series. The star of the first half was sophomore running back Joel Buogano. He scored three touchdowns including a 23-yard scamper in the second quarter to give NIU a 24-0 lead. He later added a nine-yard touchdown romp putting the Huskies up 31-0. Tyler Wedell added three field goals. NIU’s defense shutout the Blue Hose in the first half led by Jason Meehan. The Huskies led 34-0 at halftime and rolled to the 55-3 win.
“We came out and did what we were supposed to do, and I was really happy with that. I wanted to see us play fast on both sides of the ball. I thought we did,” says Head Coach Rod Carey.
