He's a rookie, and he's coming into Joliet with momentum. He won his first championship a couple weeks ago in New Jersey. He dropped by WTVO and Fox 39 Thursday afternoon.
"It's kind of a, a bit of a leap of faith for Geico and Lucas Oil to let a rookie step into such a good race car. To be able to get that win for them and the crew was a huge deal for me," says Crampton.
So how do the drivers begin to control those machines when they reach speeds well over 300mph in one thousand feet?
"Yea, it's kind of like being strapped to a rocket," says Crampton. "They are hard to steer, but it's fun. It's the ultimate thrill ride."
Qualifying and eliminations will be held Friday and Saturday. Eliminations will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday.
