Rockford- After a fourteen hour bus trip, the Golden Eagles were escorted home through Rockford Sunday with a first place trophy in hand. The Golden Eagles beat Caldwell Tech 79-69 Saturday in their first-ever finals appearance to claim the national title. Rock Valley was trailing at halftime of the big game. But former Jefferson J-Hawk Jared Mayes and L.T. Davis exploded in the second half. L.T. Davis also won tournament MVP honors.

"Bascially, I won the award because my teammates looked for me for open shots but I would like to give the award to the team. It's a team award for me," says Freshman L.T. Davis.

"We came too far. We came too far to turn back. We've been working at this since July 15th and we came too far just to give it away like that," says Jared Mayes.

"To win three games in three days and take care of business out there, it means everything to the program," says Head Coach Craig Doty.
