With their backs against the wall and their season on the line, the Chicago Blackhawks leaned on a rookie from Rockford. Andrew Shaw scored two goals, including the go-ahead on a power play in the second period that gave Chicago a lead they would never give up.
The Blackhawks finally got to Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard, who gave up four goals while getting blasted by 45 shot attempts. Jonathan Toews also scored his first playoff goal since last April, as the team tries to jumpstart a potent offense that has struggled against the rival Red Wings.
Game 6 will be played on Monday in Detroit.
