NIU shook off shorthanded circumstances to run over Toledo 35-17, clinching their fourth straight MAC West championship.
The Huskies didn't have wide receiver TommyLee Lewis (team-leading 74 receptions) from the outset, and quickly lost their other star wideout, Da'Ron Brown, to an injury in the first quarter.
But Jordan Lynch again, managed to carry the Huskies to victory. Lynch finished with 363 total yards, including 161 yards rushing and three scores on the ground. He also had help from Cameron Stingily (146 yards rushing) and Juwan Brescacin (8 receptions, 121 yards) but was at the top of his game in the second half, when the Huskies tallied 28 points.
The Huskies have a favorable game to end their regular season on Tuesday, November 26. NIU hosts Western Michigan, who will come in at 1-10 (1-6 in the MAC) with a chance to go a perfect 12-0 in the regular season. The Huskies will then play in the MAC Championship game in Detroit on December 6th, with a chance to make one more impression on the BCS system before being selected for a bowl.
