Bago One Win From A State Championship

PEORIA - The Winnebago Indians are one win away from a State Championship.

They defeated Pinckneyville 67-63 Friday evening in Peoria in the Class 2A semifinal.

Senior center Andrew Morrissey once again had a dominate game. He scored 29 points and he had 16 rebounds. Senior guards Kenzell Jones and Ty Waller added 14 points and ten points.

The Indians made 50 percent of their shots from the field including 60 percent in the second half.

They raise their record to 30-2. This is the third time a Winnebago team has reached the state championship game. In 2004 and 2005 Winnebago teams finished second in the state.

Winnebago will play Chicago Orr in the championship game Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. in Peoria. Orr defeated Bloomington Central Catholic 60-49 to win the other semifinal game. The State Championship game can only be seen on NBCSportsChicago.
