Bowling's peak season is in the winter time but it's going to be huge this coming week in Rockford. The BPAA Women's All-Star tournament and the Senior Women's U.S. Open will be held at the Cherry Bowl. Those tournaments will begin on Monday. The ladies were warming up Saturday with a three-game Super Sweeper Tournament and some Pro-Ams. Top bowlers, top seniors, and top college bowlers were all in the house. They'll be competing for $85,000 in prize money. Several local bowlers are competing for cash. Trista Flowers finished seventh in today's sweeper. Kim McGriff took eighth place and Megan Buja of Rockford earned $500 for the win.
"It was a great start to the week. We all come out and have fun in the sweepers and help to make a little bit of money. It gives me some confidence going into this week. The pattern played pretty tough you can see by the scores, so I'm surprised that 646 won, but I'll take it," says Megan Buja, Rockford Bowler.
