Blues Take Game 1

St. Louis- The Blackhawks battled the Saint Louis Blues Thursday night in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series. The Blues scored at twenty-six seconds into the third overtime to give them the 4-3 win over the Hawks. It was the longest playoff game in franchise history. Alexander Steen had the winning goal for Saint Louis.

Five goals were scored in the first period alone between these two teams. Blackhawks’ Johnny Oduya and Brent Seabrook had the first two goals. Patrick Kane scored his 30th career playoff goal after beating the defense at the end of a St. Louis power play. The Hawks led 3-2 in the first period. Blues’ Jaden Schwartz tied it with 1:45 to go in regulation to send the game into overtime. Corey Crawford made 48 saves for Chicago and Blues’ goaltender Ryan Miller made 39 saves.

The Blackhawks face the Blues in Game 2 Saturday at 2:00pm.
